The indie girl’s guide to…Lykke Li @ OAF
Lykke Li
Oxford Art Factory
Monday, 5th January, 2009
After what seemed like an eternity of waiting (did we miss the support? was the support on quite early? I’m not really sure!) Lykke Li took to the stage of the Oxford Art Factory to a full, yet strangely quiet, house. It was a Monday night after all, and I for one was pooped, not sure what everyone else’s excuse was.
Lykke Li has a lot more funk and sass than I expected. She played all the singles from her debut album Youth Novels including I’m Good, I’m Gone, Dance, Dance, Dance, Tonight and Little Bit. She even threw in a rather gorgeous version of Kings of Leon’s Knocked Up.
Note: I recommend listening to the B-side version on KOL’s current Use Somebody single. On stage Lykke sang the whole song, but on the B-side its a duet between Caleb and Lykke, (well its more of a remix per say of their voices mashed together but it would be so awesome to see sang live as a duet!) and I haven’t stop playing it since I got it (again my love of the boy/girl vocal shines through!).
