The indie girl’s guide to…Busking For Change @ the Annandale

Busking for Change

Annandale Hotel, Sydney

Wednesday, 2nd September, 2009

Last week a very special gig took place at the Annandale Hotel in aid of a good cause. Josh Pyke put together the first ever Busking for Change gig with all proceeds going towards the Indigenous Literacy Project.

Josh was MC on the night and headlined the show with a solo set. Josh gathered his White Album pals Tim Rogers and Phil Jamieson to play solo sets as well, along with Tim and Dave from Dappled Cities, who believe it or not were playing together live as a duo for the first time. The sold-out crowd enjoyed a very unique show as each of the boys played their own band’s songs stripped right back (it took me a while to realise Phil was playing a starkly different version of Just Ace). By far the best moment of the night was saved for last when Josh, Phil, Dappled Tim and Dappled Dave joined forces for a rousing, shambolic version of Stand By Me.

Busking For Change is set to become an annual event and with such a great calibre of  music for a very worthy cause, I am already looking forward to next year’s show!
